General information about this service

To use StarInet service, please, follow few easy steps:

1. Select equipment to connect to Internet:

  • Smartphone

This is a mobile phone and PDA in one device. To connect to Internet you just have to do correct smartphone setup. If you haven’t found settings exactly for your model try to enter general settings.

  • Computer + Mobile phone

To connect to Internet you can use notebook, PC or PDA and mobile phone as a modem. Most modern phones have a built-in modem. In that case you will need connection equipment to connect mobile phone with computer. It is important to note that all accessories which you are going to use should correspond with your phone model and computer.

  • Computer + GSM or GPRS modem

If your phone doesn’t have a built-in modem or you don’t want to use your phone as modem — instead of phone you can use special device for computers — outside or inner GSM or GPRS modems. Inner GSM or GPRS modems for portable computers are usually made as PCMCIA-card (special device for notebooks, which should be inserted into PCMCIA-slot). Setup process for such devices is similar to the phone setup as a modem. Usually along with such devices you can find the software — a driver which should be used when computer detects a new device. For correct device setup please read manual. Besides, for such devices you will need additional SIM-card, which installs directly to GSM or GPRS modem.

2.Select technology of data transmission, which you are going to use during Internet connection:

  • GSM-data (CSD) — standard data exchange technology (9,6 Kbit/s).
  • GPRS — high-speed data transmission technology (86 Kbit/s) (please make sure that your mobile supports GPRS).

3. If you are using computer with mobile handset select connection equipment and modem setup.

4. Create remote access.

After successful connection setup, you can use Internet services in full. To set up a mail client (e-mail) go to Mobile E-mail section.
